To be the Academic Anesthesiology Society that effectively Represents, Advocates, and Educates around issues pertinent to Academic Anesthesiology with the purpose of enhancing academic anesthesiology; education, research, and quality clinical care.
Representation
To serve Anesthesiology and Regulatory Organizations as a Representative of, and mouthpiece for, all Academic Anesthesiology Departments.
Education
To provide members a collegial and supportive forum for the exchange of ideas and experience with a particular emphasis on:
1. Leadership and management of Academic Anesthesiology Departments.
2. Structure of academic anesthesiology departments, residency and fellowship programs, and the requirements to effectively manage these entities.
3. Methods of education, research, quality assurance, clinical care, and revenue generation.
4. Education on the political, economic, and academic environment departments exist in.
5. Mentorship of Academic Anesthesiologists.
Liaison
To liaise and work effectively with organizations such as the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Association of University Anesthesiologists, Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, Society for Education in Anesthesia, and the American Board of Anesthesiology to enhance academic anesthesia research, education, and clinical care.
Communication
To communicate effectively within the Academic Anesthesiology Community and outwards to Bodies that need to address issues of common concern.
