RRC Call for Information

The Association of Anesthesiology Core Program Directors is the official organization of ACGME-designated Core Program Directors. As such, the ACGME, RRC, NRMP and others will be looking to the AACPD for input and cooperation in future directions and changes in core anesthesiology training programs. AACPD is part of the umbrella organization SAAA. The AACPD had its first meeting in San Antonio Oct 31, 2008, during the SAAA meeting. During that meeting the first council members were elected. Ted Sanford, MD was elected as President-Elect. On Saturday, November 1, 2008, the AACPD Council met for the first time to take up issues. The meeting was chaired by Stephen Rupp, MD (previous AAPD President and current AACPD President). The Council was pleased that 86 of 131 programs had joined AACPD. Joy Hawkins, MD was selected as Secretary. Dr. Hawkins will join Dr. Rupp and Dr. Sanford on the SAAA Council. Council worked on logistics for next year’s meeting, developing a close relationship with SEA, selecting representation to the Organization of Program Directors Associations (Dr. Sanford) and began to surface issues that face training programs. Please join AACPD if you are a Core Program Director in Anesthesiology and have not joined yet. Please plan to join us for the AACPD annual meeting in Boston Nov 6-8, 2009. We are working on a program that we hope will be enlightening and helpful. Visit http://www.saaahq.org/aacpd.htm for the list of 2008-2009 Officers. |
